Kristin Hersh’s band Fifty Foot Wave has a new EP out this week called Free Music.

As far as I know it is the first release from Kristin that has a Creative Commons license associated with it. Not only am I totally excited about this, and can’t wait to see where this takes her and her band, but also I applaud them for their courage and gumption. The music industry is so entrenched, the business models are decades old, and its heartening to see the Throwing Music camp willing to take risks and continually roll with the punches and morph and change in the face of all that.
