The Power Of Manny
Here’s the Friday roundup; the blogosphere as seen through my eyes:
— Robyn Hitchcock and members of REM (disguised as a Scott McCaughey band called Minus 5) are touring the UK. You can hear them on the BBC 6music this Sunday, January 29th. Program info available here. An mp3 of their musical hijinks plus trombone turned up on The Guardian’s website this morning, along with some Robyn Hitchcock witticisms.

— Kaki King talks to Flagpole Magazine about her upcoming album. She may be doing some singing! [via]
— Full sets from Colin Meloy and Laura Veirs at the Birchmire in Alexandria, VA will be webcast by NPR’s “All Songs Considered” program tomorrow night. Get your streamboxes ready. URL here.
— And, in a related story, Scott Stereogum has tracked down one of the original songs that Colin has covered on his latest tour-only EP (Colin Meloy Sings Shirley Collins). Shirley herself sings this one, called “Charlie”. Thanks Scott - I’d been dying to hear what she sounds like!
