One of my favorite Jello Biafra quotes is “become the media”, and I’ve seen this taking place first and foremost in the blogging community.

But one of my indie songwriting heroes Rose Polenzani has done this as well recently, writing a song, recording it and making a video for it — all within her apartment, all within 3 days.

The song “Pretty Black Ship” reminds me alot of Laura Veirs - both in style and also in subject matter (see “Cast A Hook In Me” from the wonderful The Sound The Hare Heard compilation).
