25th Anniversary Of The Compact Disc; 1st Anniversary Of The Walk Hard Trailer
Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the compact disc. I still remember my first: Love And Rockets - Earth Sun Moon, January 1988. What was yours??
In other news, there are two trailers out for the upcoming “Walk Hard”. Here below is one of them. I’m dying to know which of these songs Dan Bern wrote:
Lastly, Stereogum has posted a new Robyn Hitchcock rarity called “I Want To Go Backwards” (from the forthcoming box set). I say new because that’s suspiciously how it sounds, despite the fact that it’s being touted as an unreleased track from the early 80’s. This wouldn’t be the first time that Robyn has made new things from old — 1995’s “You & Oblivion” compilation had such tinkerings in it, and “Spooked” contained a song called “Demons And Fiends” that was originally recorded circa 1985. “Demons And Fiends” is fine; “Spooked” was an album of new material and most people hadn’t yet heard it. But to advertise a box set of unreleased demos from the early 80’s that were actually recorded (or even tinkered with) this year is a bit (just) on the shady side.
For me.
Personally.
You may feel differently, and I’d like to hear from you in the comments.
About the first cd thing too.
And not just for the traffic.
I’m seriously curious.
Thanks.

My first CD was Tears For Fears’ “Sowing the Seeds of Love.” I think it still sounds great today, and the songs “Woman In Chains” and “Sowing the Seeds of Love” are both perfect pop songs.

This was my first CD, which I love to this day.
